According to a survey of filmgoers, it’s…the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Is it the green face, the long crooked fingers and hook nose or that raspy but convincing voice? Whatever it was–and is–Margaret Hamilton’s witch wears well! Those of us who write murder mysteries will be hard-pressed to come up with anyone better–or worse.
